What are the factors that cause stainless steel to be corroded

2022-04-26

Stainless steel plate is actually a product that is not prone to corrosion. Unless it is in some serious cases, it is impossible for any product to be protected from corrosion. If our stainless steel plate is corroded, it may affect its normal operation. Therefore, in order to avoid this situation, we still need to take some preventive measures. Let's first understand what are the factors that cause stainless steel to be corroded?

 Stainless Steel Plate Sheet

1) Electrochemical corrosion
The stainless steel sheet is scratched due to contact with carbon steel parts, and then forms a galvanic cell with the corrosive medium, which will produce electrochemical corrosion. If the pickling passivation effect is not good, the passivation film on the surface of the plate will be uneven or too thin, which is also prone to electrochemical corrosion, slag cutting, splashing and other rust-prone substances that adhere to the plate, and then form with the corrosive medium. primary battery, resulting in electrochemical corrosion. The unclean pickling and passivation cleaning leads to the chemical corrosion products of the remaining pickling passivation residue and the plate, and then electrochemical corrosion is formed with the plate.

2) Chemical corrosion
Under certain conditions, many oil stains, dust or acids, alkalis, salts, etc. attached to the surface of the stainless steel plate will be converted into corrosive media, and chemically react with some components in the plate, resulting in chemical corrosion and rust. The cleaning and pickling passivation is not clean enough, resulting in residual liquid remaining, which directly corrodes the plate. The surface of the sheet is scratched, resulting in the destruction of the passivation film, thus reducing the protective ability of the sheet, and it is easy to react with chemical media, resulting in chemical corrosion and rust.
